India is developing in Agri-industry.

Extensive Agriculture

Extensive Agriculture practice is followed in areas where farmland is available in abundance and population is less. Farmers in these areas are dexterous in one or two types of commercial agriculture. In India, this type of farming is prevalent on large scale in the lowland areas of Himalayas and western states.

Some features of Extensive Agriculture are as follows:

  1. Large land-holdings, and use of agricultural machinery.
  2. No special treatment is required to increase soil fertility.
  3. Total production is more but the yield is less.
  4. Farmers produce bumper crops for sale.
  5. Storage facilities are required because of mass production.
